The children in our school, the Children’s Learning Center and adults in our programs took part in activities for Red Sneaker Day on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, promoting food allergy awareness! Organized here by our head nurse, Amanda Sodano, who realized the great importance of being very aware of food allergies and got things rolling!   Amanda put out the call: “Please wear red sneakers or anything red!”

Today, there was red visible everywhere, especially on people’s feet!  Our group at the Oceanside Hub got creative and made the cutest paper sneakers for the whole group of day habbers!

Red Sneakers for Oakley is a nonprofit organization that promotes food allergy awareness after Oakley, a young boy, unexpectedly passed away in 2016.

Amanda reports, “We are working with the organization and their grant program and hope to obtain a supply of EpiPens from this vital organization.”
