April into May has been an epic time for CP Nassau’s Director of Quality Assurance, Jose Rivera. He was honored on April 29 at a QA Conference in Saratoga with a first-ever award, and on May 2, he participated in ceremonies at the site of the former Willowbrook on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its closure.
Jose was honored with the the inaugural Quality Assurance and Improvement Award from The Arc New York and CP State. This new honor highlights the essential role quality professionals play in strengthening services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Jose was selected from a competitive pool of nominees statewide by the Quality and Compliance Connections Conference Planning Team for his exceptional commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.
Many from the management team at CP Nassau were there on both occasions to support and honor Jose for the integral role he has held and continues to hold in making life better for individuals with developmental disabilities. He was recognized for his professional work in the quality assurance field and for his life-long advocacy efforts on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities.
