The Community Based Day Hab program visited The Home Depot located in Freeport for a Craft Workshop. The group enjoyed using nails and hammers to build a “Blooming Picture Frame”.

As you can tell from the photos, they really enjoyed the experience! Not only did they build their own frame, but they loved adding stickers and a self-portrait to it. For their efforts and hard work, they were presented with a Home Depot pin and an achievement certificate. They felt good achieving this task. Some of them have never used a hammer and were nervous. With staff guidance and assistance, they did great and enjoyed themselves.

Jasmine Harris, Program Coordinator reports, “This is our second workshop. We visit quarterly.  Team members at Home Deport are so welcoming, supportive and enjoy working with the program participants. We are grateful.”

Here is what participants shared:

Tony – “I’m excited to build something myself.”

Nathalie –“ I was nervous about using the hammer, but I did a good job!”

Frank  said, “I was happy making new friends. (One of the pictures shows he and an associate embrace and share a nice handshake.)

Diane was so proud of herself and showed off her pin and certificate.
