Providing exceptional programs that make a meaningful difference

The Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s Adult Day Program’s goal is to provide the highest quality programs and services to the individuals we serve.

They offer meaningful experiences that help individuals build friendships, connect with their community, and explore their interests. Participants are encouraged to expand their horizons, increase their independence, and take part in activities that promote self-expression, confidence, and personal growth in a supportive and engaging environment.

Our Adult Day Programs include:

The Community-Based Day Habilitation empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) through meaningful, hands-on volunteer experiences that make a real difference in the community.

The Oceanside program is located in a welcoming storefront hub-site in the community  where participants build friendships and genuine camaraderie while exploring the community.

The Life Options Program is designed collaboratively by participants and staff to enhance learning experiences and expand horizons, through community involvement, volunteer opportunities, and engaging learning modules

The Site-Based Day Habilitation Program is a center-based program focused on helping participants increase their independence in Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills within a supportive and engaging environment, while promoting self-expression, confidence, and personal growth through creative and social experiences.

Life Options Program

The LIFE OPTIONS PROGRAM is designed by participants and staff. Its goal is to enhance learning experiences and expand horizons.

Many exciting, interesting activities are occurring in LO. They range from guest speakers discussing their experiences as actors in Broadway shows to sports greats talking with our individuals about their experiences as players and answering their questions, to conversing about current events, and debating public policy. Individuals in LO are expanding their horizons daily.

Community-Based Day Habilitation

Community Based Day Habilitation empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) through meaningful, hands-on volunteer experiences that make a real difference. Volunteering is at the heart of what we do — creating opportunities for individuals to give back, build skills, and strengthen community connections.

We proudly partner with Book Fairies, helping sort and deliver books throughout Nassau County to provide literature for riders. We support ACLD’s Rewearables program by picking up and delivering donated clothing, helping to keep the environment clean. Individuals also take part in local recycling projects that protect the environment and help raise funds for program activities. As volunteers, we serve at local churches and food banks, assisting with food distribution and community outreach — offering helping hands to neighbors in need.

Through these impactful experiences, individuals develop valuable job skills, responsibility, teamwork, and independence. Most importantly, they build confidence and pride, knowing their contributions truly matter. At our program, giving back isn’t just an activity — it’s a pathway to growth, purpose, and belonging. We strive to put the UNITY in CommUNITY!

Site-Based Day Habilitation

Individuals in our SITE-BASED DAY HABILITATION PROGRAM, in addition to working on increasing their independence in ADL skills and participating in special events and holiday celebrations, are enjoying special activities such as Music therapy classes, Art classes where beautiful projects are being created, and drumming classes which get our individuals drumming and singing their hearts out.

Oceanside Day Habilitation Hub Site

At the Oceanside Hub site, adults in the program don’t just attend, they thrive! Participants build friendships and real camaraderie while teaming up with supportive staff to learn new skills, reach goals, and celebrate accomplishments together.

The fun doesn’t stop there. From strolling through the neighborhood and visiting favorite local shops and restaurants to connecting with community members, every day brings new opportunities for adventure. Participants boost their independence by strengthening everyday living skills, all while diving into exciting, hands-on activities such as show stopping annual holiday performances, colorful, laughter-filled paint-and-sip parties and unforgettable adventures at museums. There’s always something exciting on the calendar at the Oceanside Hub and the goal of every experience is to boost confidence and create amazing memories.
