Our Kids are Your Kids..Invest in 4410 and 853 Special Ed Schools.. before it is too late…
The children who attend our 4410 and 853 schools are public school children………………..
Every child placed in one of our schools is first evaluated by the Committee on Preschool Special Education or the Committee on Special Education and a determination was made that no Public school setting would be appropriate to meet the child’s needs. Our schools are the last education option for these students!
Did you Know? Children who attend our schools have a 30% chance of having 2 or more teachers in one year. These are students diagnosed with disabilities like autism, cerebral palsy and down syndrome.
Why? Because school districts pay certified special education teachers $25,000 to $30,000 dollars more, on average, per year. Our teachers work 12 months a year and get paid less than public school teachers who only work 10 months.
What is the consequence of this pay gap? Children with the highest needs are being taught by new, inexperienced or uncertified teachers.
How can we begin to solve the problem?
Call your legislators and Say:
Please add $14.7 Million dollars to the 2018-19 budget to help reduce this pay gap and help our schools to recruit and retain certified special education teachers
