The September 4th edition of the Garden City News featured this article about Lucille Messina and her new book, “Waiting to Hear Momma: A Mother’s Memoir.” Lucille is a former president of the CP Nassau Auxiliary and is currently a dedicated volunteer at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County along with her husband Karl.
Lucille shares her compelling true story of how the joyful birth of her child quickly turned into a journey of fear, anger, depression and other negative things with only faith and unconditional love providing a source of guidance. Lucille devotes a chapter to the Children’s Learning Center at CP Nassau in which she credits Kurt Murgo, her daughter’s teacher at the time, with providing a sincere welcome and genuine concern and help that made the whole family feel comforted and that they had a home and family to turn to. A book signing will take place at Barnes & Noble, Carle Place on September 25 from7 – 8:30 pm. A portion of sales that whole day will go to CP Nassau and the Children’s Learning Center.
