Made Possible with Generous Funding from the Turan Foundation
Lynda Graham from the SHARE THE VOICE organization visited today with special surprises for seven students from the Children’s Learning Center at ucpn. The funding for these seven specially adapted tricycles was made possible by a generous donation from the Turan Foundation. Foundation members Richard, Mark and Jack Turan were on hand to see all the students receive their special gifts. Family members and many of the faculty and therapists from CLC were also at the presentation and there were cheers and smiles and joy abounding!
Share the Voice is a non-profit group that was established to enhance the lives of children with disabilities. Recreational use of adaptive tricycles brings many rewards. It builds self-esteem and confidence, provides stress relief, increases social skills, strengthens weak muscles and stretches tights ones! Owning a bike helps children become more independent. Having their own tricycle helps meet other children in their neighborhood and gives them the opportunity to be just like other kids!
Share the Voice coordinates with the Physical Therapy department at CLC top determine candidates for the tricycles and then works to size the custom bikes and helmets. All at CLC and ucpn are extremely grateful to Share the Voice and the Turan Foundation.
These young people were thrilled to receive their very own bikes today:
