COUNCIL OF AUXILIARIES
As we see the days getting longer, a little bit each day, we know spring is on its way. As our bulbs get ready to pop, so are our spring activities at CP.
No matter whether you are a member of Council, an Auxiliary or Association, you are all invited to partake in any and all events.
First up, is Plainedge’s Chinese Auction to be held on March 12th at Kwong Ming Restaurant in Wantagh (my personal favorite). You’ll enjoy good food and lots of items to bid on.
This will be followed up with their always successful fashion show on April 10th at the Fox Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. It’s been a long time since we’ve been there, so we’re all looking forward to it.
North Valley Stream is doing their annual Nite @ the Races on March 23rd at the American Legion Hall in Massapequa. Their events always raise a lot of money. This event sells out fast so get your tickets now.
Merrick is doing their quarterly New York Lottery. Tickets are only $5. Call Anita or Jay Borofsky at (516) 378-7196.
Something, not new, but a volunteer favorite, is the Taste & Toast of the Town that has been changed to May 1st. If you have not attended this event at the Chateau Briand, treat yourself to a great night. Make sure you bring a designated driver as the wine flows all night long. The food is provided by approximately 30 famous Long Island restaurants. This is gourmet all the way. Whatever your heart’s desire, it will be there. The dessert buffet is fabulous so forget the diet that night! Gifts galore and a variety of raffle tickets are available now.
Remember donations are always appreciated. Our efforts this year provides funding for the amazing MOVE (Mobility Opportunities Via Education) program. The cost of the equipment used in this program is $4,000 per unit, so anything you can donate will be appreciated. The change in our consumers using MOVE is beautiful to see. It will bring tears to your eyes and fill your heart with joy.
I’m looking forward to meeting you at one of our events.
If you would like contact information on any of the above events, please refer to the following Council and Auxiliary Calendar of Events. Thank you!
Sincerely yours in CP,
Mary Lou Zizzo

Reflections of members experiences…..
Senior Reflection – Iris
“Expand your social life by opening your opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of new friends. I believe keeping active both mentally and physically enables me to live a happier and healthier life while contributing to the needs of others. I have enjoyed a tremendous sense of accomplishment while participating in a meaningful activity.”
Junior League Reflection – Monica
“As a mother of young children, I want the very best for them. I hope and pray every day they will reach their full potential. I think every child should be given that opportunity. Being involved with CP Nassau and the Center in Roosevelt is my way of making it possible for those with developmental disabilities to achieve that goal.”
Teens for CP Reflection – Ariella
“I am so fortunate to have been involved with this program at such a young age. The opportunity to work one-on-one as a “buddy” with young people who have physical challenges in a host of sport activities such as Buddy Baseball, Buddy Bowling will never grow old for me. I, along with many other teens, look forward to every event. I can’t help but feel good inside because I know how much my buddies enjoy these activities. My involvement shaped who I am and makes me appreciate life more fully.”
