COUNCIL OF AUXILIARIES
I trust by the time you receive this newsletter, the beautiful Fall season is in full swing…. We knew it was HOT this summer, but didn’t know it was the hottest in 121 years.
We are now in the very active Fall months for our auxiliaries. Members of North Valley Stream who took a cruise of the Greek Isles are now home in time for their Membership and Fashion Show on October 12th. All are invited.
Merrick did a fun Paint Party on Sept. 19th. Wonderful food provided by Zona Restaurant in Massapequa Park. Some very talented women did amazing designs on wine glasses. Laughter could be heard all around the restaurant. We’re looking forward to doing another soon.
Our famous Buddy Baseball is Sunday, October 16th at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa. Show up and support our children and their Buddies. Rachel Gaudiosi does a great job every year on this event.
We are getting prepared for our Holiday Elves Day, supported by the Nassau Homemakers. Bless them, they give us a check every year to provide gifts for our CLC children.
Next up is our Holiday Angels program at our Holiday Council meeting. Looking at the auditorium full of presents is just a wonderful sight. We give gifts not only to our children, but adults as well. I believe last year we purchased 130 gifts for our consumers.
Last, but certainly not least, is our Annual Holiday Luncheon & Boutique Sale at the Milleridge Cottage on December 9th. We are looking forward to a special treat from the new management. Vendors are plentiful and items for sale are above average in quality. Also featured is a fur fashion show by Tsontos Furs. This is always a hit!
Remember, Thanksgiving weekend is CP Nassau’s annual Festival of Trees. Don’t miss this event. I is a Winter Wonderland!
So, as you see, we have a full calendar of events planned. Please select the ones you would like to support. Without YOU, we cannot succeed. We all work together to give a better life for our children and adults.
Sincerely yours in CP,
Mary Lou Zizzo

Reflections of members experiences…..
Senior Reflection – Iris
“Expand your social life by opening your opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of new friends. I believe keeping active both mentally and physically enables me to live a happier and healthier life while contributing to the needs of others. I have enjoyed a tremendous sense of accomplishment while participating in a meaningful activity.”
Junior League Reflection – Monica
“As a mother of young children, I want the very best for them. I hope and pray every day they will reach their full potential. I think every child should be given that opportunity. Being involved with CP Nassau and the Center in Roosevelt is my way of making it possible for those with developmental disabilities to achieve that goal.”
Teens for CP Reflection – Ariella
“I am so fortunate to have been involved with this program at such a young age. The opportunity to work one-on-one as a “buddy” with young people who have physical challenges in a host of sport activities such as Buddy Baseball, Buddy Bowling will never grow old for me. I, along with many other teens, look forward to every event. I can’t help but feel good inside because I know how much my buddies enjoy these activities. My involvement shaped who I am and makes me appreciate life more fully.”
