Close to 100 guests gathered today in the auditorium at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County to celebrate the holiday season!  There were beautiful handmade centerpieces on every table and smiles on all the faces of the Council of Auxiliary members and the Nassau County Homemakers and CP Nassau staff members in attendance.

As part of the annual “Holiday Angel” program organized each year by the Council members, there were over 120 gifts for people who participate in programs at the center who would not be getting gifts otherwise.  The gifts were purchased by staff people, volunteers and other friends on the community.   It was easy to see the true spirit of the season as one witnessed the endless row of gifts that represented the outpouring of generosity by caring individuals who wanted to add some cheer and happiness to those who need it most.

The group heard from CP Nassau Executive Director Bob McGuire and Assistant Executive Director, Karen Geller-Hittleman with an update about all the good things happening at the Agency as well as the many challenges our organization faces.  Both Bob and Karen thanked all the guests for all they have done for CP Nassau at holiday time as well as what they do year round, and for the efforts over the years.  There is so much our Agency could not do without the interest and help of our dedicated volunteers and Auxiliary members.

The highlight of the afternoon was a performance of the Children’s Learning Center Chorus!  The students sang their hearts out and had the group singing along with favorite songs of the season.  The students are a true joy and inspiration to all of us always!  We thank Music Therapist Jen Green for her work with the Chorus and all the students at CLC.  This was a magnificent way to celebrate the season and the people who make CP Nassau the amazing place it is!
